Mansfield' Harrier’s Bethany Williams gained her first England vest competing last Wednesday night at Cardiff in the Welsh under 20 international. The fixture was originated as a way of providing competition opportunity for Under 20 athletes as a pathway to senior international competition with selection based on performances at the area championships.

Four Mansfield Harriers competed at the 86th English Schools Athletics Association championships held at Gateshead on the 8th and 9th of July. The event is the premier track and field competition for athletes of school age.

Two of Mansfield Harrier’s rising stars Archie Rayner and Luke Duffy put in phenomenal performances over the weekend at the British Milers Club grand prix at Watford and the Westminster miles respectively.

Mansfield Harriers competed at the Nottinghamshire AAA’s Summer league last week at Colwick Park Nottingham and again came away with individual and team success. The race the third in a series of five saw 17 men and 9 ladies cross the finish line and in excess of 450 competitors.

The Nottinghamshire Track and Field Championships took place at Harvey Hadden Stadium Nottingham on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of May and Mansfield Harriers came away with a magnificent 31 medals after two days of hard fought competition, a number that would have been even higher but for several potential medal winners competing elsewhere.

Mansfield Harriers junior girls recently competed at Grantham in the second of three Youth Development League fixtures, coming away with another successful performance finishing in second on the day and leading after the first two meetings.

Four Mansfield athletes competed in the British Milers Club Grand Prix event on Saturday night at Sportcity Manchester and all were rewarded with superb performances. First out was Cameron Walker who competed in the 800 metres and was rewarded with an amazing new best of 1.55.92.

Last weekend saw the Midlands Track and Field Championships held at the Pingles Stadium in Nuneaton. Mansfield Harriers came away with a gold medal in the Under 20 ladies after a stunning run from Bethany Williams.

As the summer season comes into full swing Mansfield Harriers have had some great results on both Track and Field and the roads. Continuing the recent upturn of the clubs fortunes the trend of increasing numbers competing for the club continues to gather pace.

Three of Mansfield Harriers endurance squad travelled to Milton Keynes on Saturday night to run at the British Milers Club academy races. The highlight of the night was 15 year old Luke Duffy’s outstanding 1500 race finishing in 4.02.6.
